Mort is completely self taught and has been painting since childhood. He lives and paints winters in the rural Quaker farm village of Ashton, Maryland just outside of Washington, DC. In 1988 he restored Russell W. Porter's Fieldstone Castle for his summer studio in the seaside fishing village of Port Clyde, Maine.
