Greg Mort created the original oil painting “The Tranquil Sea” in June of 2008 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon in the Sea of Tranquility. This iconic image was made into a Special Collection Limited Edition Giclee of only 40 prints with a small number of Artist Proofs. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin along with several other astronauts own Giclee Prints of “The Tranquil Sea”.

GICLEÉ is a French word that literally means, "to spray." This term in the art world of fine reproductions is sometimes alongside the words IRIS PRINT, where Iris is actually the name of the printer itself.
